Weekly tip to get you ready for summer - Look after Number 1

Don’t forget about number 1!

In today's busy world, it’s easy to forget about taking care of yourself. There are so many other things fighting for your time and attention that it’s easy for us to push aside our own health and well being. 

I try to live by the 15% rule, that 15% of the hours you are awake in every day should belong to you. Time spent doing the things you want to do, things that benefit you, the things that will help you create a fit and healthy lifestyle so you can enjoy your life to the fullest and live well into your later years. Life is short and you should be strong enough to enjoy it. If you are up at 6am and go to sleep around 10pm then 2 hours out of the day should be spent doing the things that create a fitter, healthier and happier you. 

I like to spend my time training, studying and relaxing at the beach. With today's busy work life most of us are limited to the amount of time we can spend doing the activities we want to do, so prioritize your life first. 

Are you living your life with a healthy between work, rest and play?

Living by this 15% rule, you will feel like a better person, not only will you be happier on the outside but on the inside also. This will reflect in your home and work life, and in everything else you do. Ease into it if you have to, start with 45 minutes a day and work up. What you think is impossible will quickly become routine and you will start to notice a difference in yourself. The secret behind consistency is planning and making everything as easy as possible for yourself. If it is easy, there is no reason it cannot become a habit and a part of your lifestyle. 

The 15% Rule is for everyone – it is about making “you” a priority in your life, for a small amount of time every day. The payoff is immeasurable.
